JAD T-Can Engine Protection System Scania engine protection
The T-Can Engine Protection System functions as a reliable and cost-effective engine protection system. JAD Systems' T-Can units are assembled and tested in-house, using a simulation and configuration platform developed specifically for the T-Can unit.
Features & overview
A Dash mount controller module
Based on an arm cortex micro controller;
Certified to comply with the vehicle directive standard;
Dual mode of communication available but set to operate as a pure listener device while installed, having no effect on the truck CAN communications network;
Configurable for various features, but as to Scania requirements currently protects the truck against coolant loss, overheating, oil pressure loss and idle abuse.
Reports and records internal system failure or CAN sensor network failure;
Fail over to a non-intrusive default where truck is not disabled.
Kill Mode
On detection of critical conditions through the CAN network, the T-Can unit will display a warning signal, (an LED light) and then shut down the truck's engine within seconds;
The T-Can unit will not allow engine restart for ten minutes, thus allowing the engine to cool down. After ten minutes the unit allows restart of engine for 90 seconds in a limping mode to allow the truck driver to move the vehicle to a safe area;
When the problem that caused the failure has been repaired, the unit will no longer detect a critical condition and allow the truck to continue on its way, until another failure is detected;
Note that the LED warning signals will stay active for ten minutes after a failure has been detected, however if the fault is repaired within that time the kill mode will deactivate as soon as it detects no failure/critical condition.
Wiring harness
Installation without disturbance or splicing /weakening of the truck wiring.
